JERASH ........The grandeur of Imperial Rome

Travel north to Jerash, one of the best preserved roman outposts in the world. Stroll the street of columns to the oval plaza and linger till sunset when the city is awash in golden light. From there, follow an archaeologist's dream to other ancient cities and towns, 9,000 year old Pella, the hill top ruins of Gadara or Umm Qais and Um el Jimal, "Black Gem of the Desert".Only a short hour's drive north of Amman is the Greco Roman City of Jerash (Gerasa in ancient times), known as the Pompeii of the East for its extraordinary state of preservation. As they approach the city, visitors are greeted by the imposing triple arched gateway build to honor the emperor Hadrian's arrival in Jerash in A.D.D.C

Jerash is considered the best preserved and most complete city of the Decapolis, a confederation of ten Roman cities dating from the 1st century B.C.

The Jordan River and Al-Maghtas.....The Spot where Jesus Was Baptised Jordan is a modern country, a holy river and an ancient culture, a timeless physical and spiritual panaroma of Prophets, Miracles and Human Faith. The very name of the country JORDAN retains the unique baptismal aura of a Holy River and Blessed Land. God's command of rigteousness and his promise of eternal love and peace through the faith are deeply etched into the earth and memories of Jordan.

The large Loop in the Jordan River apposite Jericho has long been identified as the spot where Jesus Christ was baptised by John the Baptist. It is called Al-Maghtas in Arabic.

The importance of Al-Maghtas returns to the worlds preparation for the celebration of the third Millenium of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. In the meantime, the Jordanian Archeological Department is occupied with the completion of exploring this historical and religious site. Furthermore, Al-Magtas is clearly located on the mosiac , map found in Madaba Church near Mount Nebo, which was discovered in the middle sixth Century
